Good SKETCHBOOK Prompts
IMPORTANT-for assignments SEE GOOGLE CLASSROOM
LETTERS and DOODLES
On one page enlarge the first letter of your name as an outline. Fill the page. If you'd like you can use 2 large letters- first and last initial. Fill the letter with a set of doodles and then fill the background with a different, new pattern. You can change the pattern within the letter and also all around the background but the same pattern inside and outside should not be used.
In addition to changing the doodle pattern and shapes, change the heaviness and lightness of the lines
ONE OBJECT MANY ANGLES
Find any object that you find interesting. It should be small enough that you can move it in order to draw it from different angles. Draw this object on a sketchbook page at least 3 times. Each angle (point of view) should be different. In addition, the object should be shown in different sizes- some should seem closer and some further away. It is ok to overlap and to crop.
RANDOM STILL LIFE
Create a still life that is random- meaning, depict a collection of objects that you find around your home. Good examples of this are the dinner/breakfast/snack table after food has been eaten, a closet floor, your stuff piled somewhere etc. Any collection of objects that you encounter around your house, in any room or place, can work for this project.
The medium is up to you but it is very important that you convey the light and shadow in this drawing, just like we are working on in the class still-life.
DARK ROOM ONE LIGHT SOURCE
Darken a room and then find one light such as a flash light, a small lamp, the light from your phone. Draw objects in this light or just a corner of room itself. Or, you might look in a mirror and draw your portrait or someone else's portrait
